Photography 1: Exploring Your Camera<br />

Bring your digital camera to learn the basics hands-on: basic terminology,<br />

composition and framing, color schemes, aperture and shutter<br />

priority, natural lighting versus fill flash photography, and the process of<br />

taking a good technical and artistic picture.<br />

Photography 2: Exploring Photographic Styles<br />

Explore the techniques used in different genres of photography, such as<br />

nature, landscape, portraiture and wedding, commercial (for products<br />

and magazines) and travel photography. Learn about the rules of design<br />

and expectations in the photography industry and find out how to make<br />

a profit.<br />

Photography: Perfect Portraiture<br />

Learn the specialized technical and artistic skills used in today’s<br />

contemporary digital portraiture. Gain hands-on experience with studio<br />

equipment using existing light, TTL (through the lens) flash, and studio<br />

strobes to create stunning portraits. Current trends in portraiture,<br />

single and group compositions, posing, lighting, and current business<br />

practices will also be explored. Please bring your camera, lunch and<br />

snacks.<br />

Spectacular Fall Colours Photography<br />

Practice honing your skills while photographing the fall colours. You<br />

will learn the secrets to good landscape photography, camera settings,<br />

composition and lighting. In the afternoon you will get a brief introduction<br />

to Adobe Photoshop and do basic image manipulation to improve<br />

your images and create a slide show. Bring your Point & Shoot or Digital<br />

SLR camera, camera manual, and a device to save your images on once<br />

edited. Class goes rain or shine so please dress appropriately.<br />

Photographic Intensives<br />

Is This for You? These courses could start you on your way to becoming<br />

a professional photographer or photographic artist, but are also suited to<br />

dramatically improving your photography skills for personal or business<br />

use.<br />

Program Highlights: This series of courses has been formulated to<br />

provide a comprehensive study of the art of photography with hands-on<br />

practice supplemented by the theory and principles behind the art.<br />

The overall goal of this specialization is to inspire creativity and passion,<br />

stretch the boundaries of your perception and give you the camera skills<br />

Video & Filmmaking: An Introduction<br />

Explore the basics of shooting and editing digital video. Obtain a<br />

brief overview of the technical information required to produce<br />

educational, promotional, corporate and music videos as well as<br />

high quality home movies and short films. Learn about video resolution,<br />

aspect ratio, compression and decompression, video formats,<br />

shooting styles, lighting, sounds, equipment and hands-on editing<br />

with industry standard software. Find out how to deliver the finished<br />

videos across a variety of platforms including the internet, DVD and<br />

television.<br />
