Fluvanna County School Board Meeting
January 12, 2011
The regular monthly meeting of the Fluvanna County School Board was held
Wednesday, January 12, 2011, in the boardroom at the School Board Office. The
Chair called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Clerk called roll, and the
following School Board members were present: Mr. Doug Johnson, Mrs. Bertha
Armstrong, Mrs. Barbara Gibbons, Mr. Tom Muir, Mrs. Camilla Washington, and Mr.
Brian Phillips.
2. Closed Meeting
On a motion by Mrs. Washington, seconded by Mr. Muir, the School Board voted
unanimously to go into Closed Meeting pursuant to Section 2.2-3711(A)(1) of the
Code of Virginia for the purpose of discussing employee matters, Section 2.2-
3711(A)(2) of the Code of Virginia for the purpose of discussing student matters,
Section 2.2-3711(A)(3) of the Code of Virginia for the purpose of discussing real
property, and Section 2.2-3711(A)(7) of the Code of Virginia for the purpose of
consulting with legal counsel.
3. Reconvene
The Chair reconvened the meeting at 7 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and a moment of silence was observed.
The School Board conducted the annual reorganization process.
On a motion by Mr. Muir, seconded by Mrs. Armstrong, the School Board voted
unanimously that Mrs. Gibbons would serve as Chairperson.
On a motion by Mrs. Armstrong, seconded by Mr. Muir, the School Board voted
5-0-1, Mr. Johnson abstained, that Mrs. Washington would serve as Vice-
Chairperson.
On a motion by Mr. Muir, seconded by Mrs. Washington, the School Board voted
unanimously that Brandi Critzer would serve as Clerk.
On a motion by Mr. Phillips, seconded by Mrs. Armstrong, the School Board voted
unanimously that Tom Patrick would serve as Deputy Clerk.
