Therefore, if you are a manufacturer or importer of a phase-in substance, your registrati<strong>on</strong><br />

deadline will depend <strong>on</strong> the criteria above.<br />

Note that, as explained in secti<strong>on</strong> 2.2.6.5, the ‘t<strong>on</strong>nes per year’ for phase-in substance that<br />

have been imported or manufactured for at least three c<strong>on</strong>secutive years is calculated <strong>on</strong> the<br />

basis of the average volume for the three preceding calendar years. If the substance has not<br />

been manufactured or imported for three c<strong>on</strong>secutive years then the calendar year t<strong>on</strong>nage<br />

should be used like for n<strong>on</strong>-phase in substances.<br />

Note also that the highest t<strong>on</strong>nage per year (calculated as the average of the three<br />

preceding years or per calendar year, as applicable) manufactured or imported after<br />

1 June 2007 will determine the deadline for registrati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The following examples show how to calculate the registrati<strong>on</strong> deadline for pre-registered<br />

phase-in substances based <strong>on</strong> the yearly t<strong>on</strong>nage.<br />
