1. Rockefeller Center may have its Christmas Tree, but on January 1,
Battery Park City would have the start of the Round the World Race! The
race would create on-going publicity for three months. Then the boats
would finish at the beginning of April, just when we want to start
focusing media attention on the marina again.

To create a Round the World Race, we need to find a sponsor who would
benefit from the potential significant media exposure and could invest in
the prize money and operational support. With the economic climate
improving, this is the time to leverage all the past experience we have
gained at North Cove to create something for the history books.
Café Seating on the Quay
We have been trying to bring the public down to the marina and
encourage them to get involved. The seating at the old Southwest NY
when it was located in the World Financial Center used to overlook the
marina. People would see the boats while dining, get intrigued and go to
find out more. Now the food court has been repositioned upstairs,
moving the public further from the marina.
We would like to figure out a way, If BPCA supports the concept, where
people could sit close to the boats on a nice day and have a sandwich or
coffee. Paris is a city with lots of small seats and bistro tables. We
would like to begin a test to see if this would be popular among the
public. We could use the existing restaurants around North Cove to
provide the food. North Cove could supply the wait staff and ensure the
operation enhances the overall nature of the marina operations.
