also likely require significant reinforcement of <strong>the</strong> structures supporting<br />

<strong>the</strong> breakwaters and adjacent esplanade <strong>to</strong> resist <strong>the</strong> additional forces<br />

from wave and current.<br />

<strong>BPCA</strong> has already conducted a study between <strong>the</strong> years of 2007-2010 of<br />

wave attenuation and <strong>the</strong> potential costs involved with installing a<br />

system.<br />

After recently learning that<br />

North Cove <strong>Marina</strong> is up for<br />

renewal and <strong>the</strong>re are o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

companies looking <strong>to</strong> take over<br />

<strong>the</strong> lease, I wanted <strong>to</strong> reach out<br />

<strong>to</strong> lend my support. Your<br />

organization, Manhattan Yacht<br />

Club, has had one of <strong>the</strong><br />

greatest impacts on my time in<br />

New York City, and what it<br />

stands for is so important <strong>to</strong> not<br />

just <strong>the</strong> people of New York, but<br />

especially <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> neighborhood<br />

and community of Battery Park<br />

hard <strong>to</strong> bring life back<br />

down<strong>to</strong>wn, and for making<br />

something which seems<br />

unattainable, so accessible and<br />

affordable <strong>to</strong> so many in New<br />
