Existing land use, little tangible affect on natural amenity or influence to native
environments or natural systems
Question of contingency money – if weather is wet and project delayed. Project costs
include food and accommodation – if project begun and work is pushed out past the 8
days – will extra costs for food and accommodation be picked up by Western
Districts Cost for food and accommodation currently 8% of applicant’s contribution.
Western Districts advise they will contribute towards the total costs for maintenance
costs per annum – approx. $14,000 per year. They plan to pay for these costs
through fundraising/meal nights/volunteers etc. Have they provided an indicative cost
of how much they have raised in fundraising previously.
Demonstrated revenue stream could exist but have not quantified {similar comment to
above}
Visual amenity would be improved due to removal of “windmill towers” and installation
of drop down poles.
It was also noted that this application met the criteria of Governance, Community Benefit and
Consent. Outstanding is Development Approval. The applicant considered that as they were
replacing existing structures that they would not need to go through this process. They have
commenced the process of filing an application for development approval.
Advice from Development Services indicates that development approval would be most likely,
subject to completion of process.
Council Administration has concluded that subject to consideration of the above comments
that this project has met the criteria to be considered for funding from the grant program,
subject to receipt of development approval.

In the case of this grant process Council need to ensure that the formal grant process is
followed. Development approval process needs to be completed.

The proposed works rejuvenate public areas that are currently in need of repairs. By
completion of works to current standards will reduce risks to Council and community.

Minimal outside of grant program for Council both initially and ongoing, as detail by the
applicant.
