71. American River CWMS - Projects
a. Approval for the effluent lagoons by SA Health is currently being addressed by
W&G, expect outcome mid July.
b. Ongoing compliance issues with connections are being inspected and rectified.
c. Bore holes for compliance water sampling have been marked out, completion due
in August
Swimming Pool
72. None at this time.
Traffic Control (maintenance)
73. Minor maintenance on signage at various locations across Island.
Waste Management
74. FRWA report not available for Council report submission deadline.
75. Capping plan for KIRRC underway, survey work to be completed in July.
76. Costs for increased hours for Bulky Waste Station (BWS):
Main cost component is wage: bulky waste stations are manned with casual staff with
the following hourly rate: $22.72 base rate plus 25% loading plus double time for
Sunday : $56.80/h
Current cost for all BWS’s:
Approx. $17,000 - $20,000 p/a (the variance depends on how much waste is being
received and needs to be transported back to KIRRC)
Additional cost as a rule of thumb:
Doubling the opening hours would increase the cost to approx $34,000 to $40,000 p/a
(depending on waste quantities and types received)
Formal report to be brought to Council with regards to Bulky and Green Waste
Management for the Island.
