Hauptmann and placed in command of Jagdgeschwader Nr. 2,
composed of Jastas
12, 13, 15, and 19. Hauptmann von Tutschek's own squadron, Jasta 12, of
which Leutnant Hermann Becker was deputy CO., was staff squadron. At that
time the squadron was stationed at Toulis, 18 kilometres or about 11 miles, north
of Laon. The accompanying photograph shows the field at Toulis at this time
when the squadron was switching from Albatros D V's to Fokker Triplanes.
The machines of Jasta 12 had uniformly painted black tails with individual insignias
in black and white on the fuselages. The machines of von Tutschek
had all-black bodies and tails. The fourth and fifth machines from the bottom,
a Dr I
and an Albatros D V respectively, were von Tutschek's. The sixth machine,
a Triplane with a black and white quartering, was Becker's.
