Standard C Implementation Definition B.1.12 Preprocessing directives The ISO standard C header files can be referred to as described in the standard, for example, #include . Quoted names for includable source files are supported. The compiler accepts host filenames or UNIX filenames. For UNIX filenames on non-UNIX hosts, the compiler tries to translate the filename to a local equivalent. The recognized #pragma directives are shown in Pragmas on page 4-58. B.1.13 Library functions The ISO C library variants are listed in About the runtime libraries on page 1-2 in the Libraries and Floating Point Support Guide. The precise nature of each C library is unique to the particular implementation. The generic ARM C library has, or supports, the following features: • The macro NULL expands to the integer constant 0. • If a program redefines a reserved external identifier such as printf, an error might occur when the program is linked with the standard libraries. If it is not linked with standard libraries, no error is detected. • The __aeabi_assert() function prints details of the failing diagnostic on stderr and then calls the abort() function: *** assertion failed: expression, file name, line number Note The behavior of the assert macro depends on the conditions in operation at the most recent occurrence of #include . Standard C Implementation Definition B.2 Behaviors considered undefined by the ISO C Standard The following are considered undefined behavior by the ISO C Standard: • In character and string escapes, if the character following the \ has no special meaning, the value of the escape is the character itself. For example, a warning is generated if you use \s because it is the same as s. • A struct that has no named fields but at least one unnamed field is accepted by default, but generates an error in strict 1990 ISO Standard C.
