Chapter 3 – Existing Conditions<br />

Table 3-11 provides a list <strong>of</strong> the most common PCFs for collisions at signalized locations. The<br />

top three PCFs were travel on the wrong side <strong>of</strong> the road, auto right-<strong>of</strong>-way violations, and traffic<br />

signals and signs. These three PCFs accounted for 60% <strong>of</strong> collisions.<br />

Table 3-12 provides a summary <strong>of</strong> time <strong>of</strong> day data for collisions. The time <strong>of</strong> day was grouped into four<br />

categories: school/business hours (7:00 AM to 4:59 PM), evening hours (5:00 to 8:59 PM), night hours<br />

(9:00 PM to 2:59 AM), and morning hours (3:00 to 6:59 AM). Among bicycle involved collisions, the<br />

greatest proportion <strong>of</strong> collisions occurred during business hours with 51% <strong>of</strong> the total, followed by<br />

evening hours. Evening and night hours combined for less than 15% <strong>of</strong> the total collisions.<br />
