2.2.2.1 Autodiscover<br />

The Autodiscover command facilitates the discovery of core account configuration information by<br />

using the user's Simple Mail Transfer <strong>Protocol</strong> (SMTP) address as the primary input. For<br />

information about the Autodiscover service, see [<strong>MS</strong>FT-AUTODISCOVER]. For more details about<br />

the Autodiscover HTTP Service, see [<strong>MS</strong>-OXDSCLI].<br />

The Autodiscover command request and response messages are sent in XML format, not WBXML<br />

format.<br />

When sending an Autodiscover command request, the Content-Type header value MUST be set to<br />

text/xml. For more details about the Content-Type header, see [<strong>MS</strong>-ASHTTP] section<br />

2.2.1.1.2.2.<br />

The client SHOULD use the Autodiscover command as an initial response to common HTTP errors.<br />

Common HTTP errors are specified in [<strong>MS</strong>-ASHTTP] section 2.2.2.1.1. Autodiscover has the ability<br />

to retrieve an updated Uniform Resource Locator (URL) when a mailbox has been moved, a user<br />
