PROJECT PARTNERS<br />

ISR‐UC is a research and technology transfer Institute, associated with the University of Coimbra. Its research<br />

interests include energy‐efficient technologies, renewable energies, and energy planning. Recent work includes the<br />

coordination of several <strong>European</strong> projects on market transformation of electric motors and drives, integrated<br />

resource planning in the electricity sector, air conditioning, and large‐scale use of biomass for combined heat and<br />

power production. ISR‐UC has been involved in projects in developing countries to promote the penetration of<br />

energy efficient technologies (Brazil, Egypt, Pakistan, Philippines, and China).<br />

The <strong>European</strong> <strong>Lift</strong> <strong>Association</strong> (<strong>ELA</strong>) represents the lift, escalator & moving walk associations active in the<br />

<strong>European</strong> Union (EU) and the <strong>European</strong> Free Trade Area (EFTA), whether they are national or sectorspecific<br />

associations. <strong>ELA</strong> also represents their components manufacturers. With its very wide<br />

representation, <strong>ELA</strong> is the main communication vector of the lift, escalator & moving walk industry to the<br />

<strong>European</strong> Commission, the <strong>European</strong> Parliament and a range of other international institutions and organisations. Its aim is also to<br />

help the national associations in their dialogue with their respective governments and the public at large.<br />

Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (Italy)<br />

provides research, innovation technology and advanced services in the fields of energy, sustainable<br />

economic development and innovation. In such a context, ENEA also acts as the National Agency for<br />

Energy Efficiency. The overall set of ENEA's functions include either technology transfer to support the development of the<br />

national production system and technical and scientific support to Ministries as well as regional and local Authorities.<br />

The Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) analyses the framework<br />

conditions for innovations. We explore the short‐ and long‐term developments of innovation<br />

processes and the societal impacts of new technologies and services. On this basis, we provide<br />

our clients from industry, politics and science with policy recommendations and perspectives for key decisions. Our expertise lies<br />

in a broad scientific competence as well as an inter‐disciplinary and systemic research approach. Among others, we design and<br />

evaluate energy policy measures, instruments for a more rapid development and diffusion of sustainable, innovative energy<br />

technologies as well as strategies for research and development.<br />

The Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (KAPE) is a stock company working on no‐profit bases. The<br />

majority of our activities are public service obligations. The mission of KAPE is to develop and implement<br />

sustainable energy policies in Poland successfully implementing EU energy policy into national energy sector,<br />

playing a leading role in providing a wide range of sustainable energy services. KAPE carries out activities aimed<br />

at improving rational use of energy (RUE), promotion of renewable energy sources (RES) and energy related<br />

environmental issues. KAPE’s highly recognised position in domestic and EU market, years long experience in international<br />

projects, well established contacts within international network of agencies and experts, high level of professional<br />

interdisciplinary knowledge together with flexible structured project organisation and experienced personnel, deep knowledge of<br />

the EU/national legal and economic framework and programs are our advantage in performance of our mission and achieving our<br />

goals and allow for efficient co‐operation with our partners.<br />
