The Board is in the somewhat unusual position of being "under the umbrella" of
the Woman's Association. We are in this position due to how this Board came
into being and due to certain financialand legal considerations. Although we
report to the Woman's Association, and through the Woman's Association to
Synod, we are a separate entity and do not receive any funds from them. The
Board has received certain funds from Synod, for which we are most appreciative,
and through its own fund-raising efforts. Consequently, once the Board became
aware that there was going to be approximately $250,000 available this year for
distribution from the unrestricted undesignated funds of Synod, the Board
forwarded a request to the Board of Trustees for $5,000 that we hope will be
looked upon favorably.
One of the reasons for the above request is that the Board is looking at the
possibility of establishing a revolving fund that would provide immediate monies for
wheelchairs, ramps for homes and perhaps other facilities, and to meet other
pressing needs of handicapped persons and their families. Monies could be
borrowed from this fund and then repaid at a later date. If this request were to be
granted,it would enable the Board to establish such a revolving fund.
The members of the Board who meet each quarter of the year are as follows:
Vida Grace Brown, Wayne Duffield, Ruth Hall, Mary Lou Hemphill, Martha
Joseph, Michelle LaMay, Faith Martin, Betty McBee, Lynn McCracken, Roy
McDonald, Ann O'Neill, Mary Spear, and Dr. Richard Wood. Meg Spear is our
accountant.
Their faithful attendance and willingness to serve are much appreciated.
Recommendations:
1. That presbyteries place on their agenda an annual report from the Presbytery
Advocate of their presbytery.
2. That Synod grant the Board's request of $5,000 from the unrestricted
undesignated funds of Synod.
3. That inasmuch as Synod established the Board to Address Disability Concerns,
we request that Synod support the work of the Board by monies from the
Miscellaneous Fund annually.

Dear Fathers and Brothers,
Revelation 5:9 states, "And they sang a new song, saying 'Worthy art Thou to
take the book, and to break its seals; for Thou wast slain, and didst purchase for
God with Thy blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.'"
From this verse we are reminded that God's design and purpose in the death of
Jesus Christ always has been andstill is world-wide in scope. One of those
