Recommendation #3 of the Board to Address Disability Concerns which was referred to the Committee on Finance was referred to the Trustees of Synod. The report was received. The report of the Pension Trustees of Synod was taken up. The report as a whole was discussed. Items 1 and 2 were adopted. Items 3-5 were referred to the Committee on Finance. Items 6 S 7 were adopted. Item 8 was divided to have Synod decide the policy matter on an exception for Wayne Duffield's Board membership since he has already served two consecutive terms. The exception was granted. The remainder of Item 8 was referred to the Nominating Committee. Item 9 was adopted. Ray

Synod authorized the amending of the second paragraph under the portion entitled "Section 107 of the Internal Revenue Code" following the completion of this report. The report as a whole was approved and is as follows: REPORT OF THE PENSION TRUSTEES The Board of Pension Trustees have met twice since our last report to Synod on September 13-14, 1996 and on April 25-26, 1997. The September meeting was held at the Reformed Presbyterian Home and the April meeting was held at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary, both in Pittsburgh, PA. The officers of the Board, elected at the fall meeting, are as follows: Bruce Lundeen, Chairman; Don Lamont, Vice-Chairman; A. Wayne Duffield, Secretary, and Louis D. Hutmire, Treasurer. REPORTING The Board wants to remind the clerks of presbyteries and/or clerks of ad interim commissions of the importance of informing the Secretary of the Pension Trustees of actions taken by the presbyteries relative to licensures, ordinations, installations, and any other changes from active or inactive service. This informationis needed for insurance and/or pension purposes. RECOMMENDATION 1: That Synod instruct the presbyteries to include in the minutes of each installation service the date that the teaching elder actually started working in the congregation. This is needed because participants are enrolled in the pension plan on the first day of the month following the date they actually started working. CONTRIBUTIONS The Pension Trustees are recommending that Plan B continue to be upgraded by having employers (as defined by Plan B) contribute a minimum contribution rate of $2,200.00 in 1998 (an increase of $100 from 1997). This amount is to be forwarded by the congregation or presbyterial treasurer to the denominational treasurer quarterly (4 x $550.00), and will be credited to the respective participant's account. Itis noted that in 1996 fifteen (15) employers contributed more than the minimum contribution. All employers, including boards of the church are encouraged to contribute over the minimum. It may be observed in this connection that the Boardis aware that thereis some concern about the yearly increase of the employers contribution with respect to the ability of congregations to pay this amount. However, the Board believes that
