1997 to the Home Mission Board's Kingdom Builder's Fund and the other hal
went to the Building Loan Current Account.
The goal for RPMetM in 1996 was $320,000. Contributions were received
totalling $320,405 so each department received 100% of the amount granted.
The RPMetM goal for 1997 was kept at $320,000. Some of the reasons we were
able to reach the goal for 1996 are that we received a bequest from the Velma
Dougherty Estate for $10,894.52 and the Los Angeles Congregation contributed
$25,005 in 1996 compared to $12,098 in 1995. Since we assume that these
will not be duplicated in 1997,it appears thatit will be a challenge to raise the
$320,000 for 1997. However, as of 4/30/97, we received $63,539 compared
to $43,299 at the same time last year. Thisis a good start. Let's trust that the
contributions will continue to increase.

The financial report on the Unrestricted Undesignated Funds of Synod is part of
the 1996 Treasurer's Report. Since 1992, most of the income available in the
Unrestricted Undesignated Funds was from the MacLaughlin Trust and most was
distributed to Geneva College and the Pension Board as per Synod's action. In
1996, $228,579 was received in undesignated funds which included $117,365
from the Ruth Tannehill Estate and received $100,546 more in 1997. Therefore,
in addition to the $50,000 granted to Geneva College in 1996 and 1997 and the
$50,000 granted to the Pension Board in 1996 and 1997, we still project that
there will be $250,000 to distribute at this Synod. According to procedures
approved by Synod, the departments of the church were notified of these funds
and requests were submitted to the Trustees of Synod at their Spring meeting.
The recommended distribution of these fundsis listed in Recommendations #5 et
#6 of this report.
The Unallocated Denominational Office financial reports for 1995 and 1996,
including a proposed budget for 1998, are printed in the Treasurer's Report.
The Trustees continue to carry a small accident insurance policy on delegates to
Synod, presbyteries and boards and committees of Synod. In an international
conference year,it also covers those travelling to the conference. This policy
