• submit a new proposal form to the IBC before any major change is made to<br />

the experimental system of a proposal, which may result in a change of<br />

category or which may affect the exempt status of Category C projects.<br />

• conduct experiments under the conditions of physical containment<br />

approved by the IBC or as advised by the GMAC in the case of category A<br />

proposals (see Section 4);<br />

• ensure that students, subordinates, and other co-workers are aware of the<br />

nature of potential hazards of the work and have been given relevant<br />

training. They should also arrange for training, if needed;<br />

• inform the IBC of any changes to the project team;<br />

• promptly report accidents, unexplained illnesses and absences to the IBC;<br />

• advise the IBC when intending to import biological material(s) falling within<br />

these guidelines (see also Section 6.6).<br />
