detection of escape;<br />
(vii) the use of an electric insect-control unit should be considered;<br />
(viii) the activity of arthropods and the risk of accidental escape can be reduced<br />
by chilling.<br />
It should be borne in mind that invertebrates can harbour infectious organisms, for<br />
example, viruses in mosquitoes, midges and biting flies in soft ticks, trypanosomes in<br />
triatomid bugs, organisms from sewage in mollusca, crustacea or echinodermata. Such<br />
invertebrates should be kept at a containment level appropriate to the risk from the<br />
human pathogens carried by these invertebrates.<br />
