Application to the proposal
This proposal and the overarching DTRS project will contribute
towards RailCorp’s strategic benefits for current and future
generations, including safer public transport by improving on the
current communications system, providing coverage and reliable
communications services to all parts of the electrified rail corridor
and acting as the basis for the introduction of an Automatic Train
Protection System.
The economic, social and safety considerations of the DTRS have
been integrated with the consideration and assessment of
potential environmental impacts regarding the development and
operation of the DTRS.
The proposed site is on disturbed land that has been previously
cleared. The proposed activity is not expected to result in any loss
of biodiversity or ecological integrity.
Improved valuation and
pricing of environmental
resources
RailCorp recognises the value of environmental sustainability and
will minimise the impacts of its activities by ensuring that
appropriate mitigation measures are implemented for all aspects of
the DTRS project. The potential environmental costs of the
proposal have been considered in conjunction with the costs of
design, construction and operation.
2.8 Other Guidelines
Consideration of the NSW Telecommunication Facilities Guideline including Broadband NSW
(DoP 2010) is a requirement when Clause 114 or Clause 115 (development of a
telecommunications facility) of the ISEPP is applied. While the provisions of Clause 114 and
Clause 115 do not apply to the proposal, the guidelines have been considered and are included
at Appendix 1.
