compassion on us (Mark 5:19). This proclamation comes<br />

through experiencing death <strong>from</strong> worldly desires in order <strong>to</strong><br />

experience His Resurrection. "For if we have been united<br />

<strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r in <strong>the</strong> likeness of His death, certainly we also<br />

shall be in <strong>the</strong> likeness of His Resurrection" (Romans 6:5-<br />

8). We die <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> world's lusts and sins in order <strong>to</strong> live,<br />

and yet, as St Paul says, "It is not I who live, but Christ<br />

who lives in me."<br />

This sacrament enables us <strong>to</strong> abide in Jesus and be united<br />

with Him, assuring us of <strong>the</strong> perfect unity with God in <strong>the</strong><br />

Eternal Life.<br />

As we yearn <strong>to</strong> abide and unite perfectly in Him, so we<br />

remember Him always until He comes, and we await His<br />

glorious coming with earnest expectation, for His second<br />

coming will fulfil our unity with Him forever.<br />

The congregation responds with this wonderful hymn in<br />

answer <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord's words, "Amen, Amen, Amen. We<br />

preach Your death, O Lord. Your <strong>Holy</strong> Resurrection and<br />

Ascension we acknowledge. We praise You, we bless You,<br />

we thank You, O Lord, and supplicate You, O our Lord."<br />

They sing with an uplifted voice <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lamb who was<br />

slaughtered for <strong>the</strong>ir salvation. They remember His lifegiving<br />

death for <strong>the</strong>ir redemption, and confess His holy<br />

resurrection by which He defeated <strong>the</strong> terrifying enemy of<br />

humanity - death. They confess <strong>the</strong>ir belief in His ascension<br />

<strong>to</strong> heaven, where He is sitting at <strong>the</strong> right Hand of <strong>the</strong><br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r, having entered, "<strong>the</strong> inner part behind <strong>the</strong> veil<br />

where <strong>the</strong> forerunner has entered for us" (Hebrews 6:20),<br />

"To prepare a place for us" (John 14:2). We live in <strong>the</strong><br />
