Lord Jesus endured for our sake. So, its repetition reminds<br />

us always of Christ's incredible love for us. Let us pray 'Lord<br />

have mercy' saying :<br />

V You who were lashed for us, have mercy on us.<br />

V You who were stabbed by <strong>the</strong> spear for us, have mercy<br />

on us.<br />

Try my beloved, <strong>to</strong> ease <strong>the</strong> severe pain which <strong>the</strong> Lord<br />

Christ endured for you, through your repentance and<br />

persistence, pleading for His mercy.<br />

Fa<strong>the</strong>r An<strong>to</strong>nious Rageb says about this meaningful short<br />

prayer: "We recite, 'Lord have mercy' so many times. Our<br />

whole life is not enough <strong>to</strong> recite and beg <strong>the</strong> compassionate<br />

mercy <strong>from</strong> our loving God. Let your repetition in prayer<br />

become a beautiful incense, seek mercy for yourself, for all<br />

your matters and also for o<strong>the</strong>rs. Specify each time a certain<br />

matter for which you need <strong>the</strong> Lord’s mercy :<br />

V Lord have mercy on me because of my evil thoughts;<br />

V Lord have mercy on me <strong>from</strong> mental distraction;<br />

V Lord have mercy on me in this tribulation;<br />

V Lord have mercy on Your church <strong>from</strong> corrupt foxes;<br />

V Lord have mercy on Your children <strong>from</strong> <strong>the</strong> seduction of<br />

sin.<br />

Thus <strong>the</strong> incense of your prayers rises and is accepted by <strong>the</strong><br />

Lord.”<br />

The prayer of 'Lord have mercy' includes all <strong>the</strong> requests and<br />

needs of <strong>the</strong> person, whatever <strong>the</strong>y may be, and at all times.<br />
