The person who wants to partake of the Holy Communion,
must fast at least nine hours beforehand, as mentioned in the
Apostolic cannons, "No one receives the Eucharist except
with purity and fasting, and if a person approached and
took from the Communion carelessly, they will be cut off
from the church of God forever."
