God for all your needs according <strong>to</strong> His good will, seek Him<br />
with lowliness and humbleness, so He gives you whatever<br />
you need and responds <strong>to</strong> your will.<br />
The deacon <strong>the</strong>n says, "Let <strong>the</strong> readers recite <strong>the</strong> names of<br />
our holy fa<strong>the</strong>rs, <strong>the</strong> patriarchs who have departed, O<br />
Lord repose <strong>the</strong>ir souls and forgive us our sins."<br />
In <strong>the</strong> past, names of <strong>the</strong> patriarchs who departed were<br />
written on many tablets and upon hearing this call every<br />
reader <strong>to</strong>ok out a tablet and read <strong>the</strong> names, asked for <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
mercy and repose as a reward for <strong>the</strong>ir services in <strong>the</strong> church<br />
and shepherding <strong>the</strong> people of God. We do not know when<br />
this tradition s<strong>to</strong>pped but we can still pray <strong>to</strong> God for <strong>the</strong><br />
departed patriarchs on hearing this call in <strong>the</strong> church. May<br />
God reward <strong>the</strong>m for <strong>the</strong>ir spiritual strife and struggle in <strong>the</strong><br />
church.<br />
THE DIPTYCH<br />
The times in which <strong>the</strong> Diptych must not be recited in <strong>the</strong><br />
known fasting tune, are on Sundays, and during <strong>the</strong> fifty days<br />
after Easter. After <strong>the</strong> priest completes <strong>the</strong> Synaxis, and<br />
during <strong>the</strong> previous response of <strong>the</strong> deacon, <strong>the</strong> priest says<br />
<strong>the</strong> following diptych inaudibly: "Remember also O Lord,<br />
all those who departed and reposed <strong>from</strong> amongst <strong>the</strong><br />
priesthood, and <strong>from</strong> all <strong>the</strong> orders of <strong>the</strong> laity. Graciously<br />
O Lord, repose all <strong>the</strong>ir souls in <strong>the</strong> embrace of our holy<br />
fa<strong>the</strong>rs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Sustain <strong>the</strong>m in green<br />
pastures, by <strong>the</strong> waters, comfort in <strong>the</strong> paradise of joy, <strong>the</strong><br />
place where grief, sorrow and sighing have fled, in <strong>the</strong><br />
