Warn<strong>in</strong>g and Safety <strong><strong>in</strong>structions</strong><br />

Sugar can damage the <strong>coffee</strong><br />

mach<strong>in</strong>e. Only use pure <strong>coffee</strong><br />

beans. Do not use <strong>coffee</strong> beans which<br />

have been treated with anyth<strong>in</strong>g<br />

conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g caramel, any k<strong>in</strong>d of sugar<br />

or any other substances. Do not put<br />

dr<strong>in</strong>ks conta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g sugar, or <strong>in</strong>stant<br />

<strong>coffee</strong> <strong>in</strong> the mach<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

Never place a dr<strong>in</strong>k with ignited<br />

alcohol under the steam spouts.<br />

The flames could ignite plastic<br />

components and cause fire damage.<br />

The hot water and steam could<br />

cause scald<strong>in</strong>g. Be very careful<br />

when us<strong>in</strong>g these functions. Never<br />

direct the steam spout towards the<br />

body.<br />

The <strong>coffee</strong> mach<strong>in</strong>e must never be<br />

used for clean<strong>in</strong>g objects.<br />

Always ensure that the steam<br />

control dial is turned to the off<br />

position when not needed. Otherwise<br />

there is a danger of an uncontrolled<br />

escape of steam. Danger of scald<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Do not use steam clean<strong>in</strong>g<br />

apparatus to clean the mach<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

Pressurised steam could reach the<br />

electrical components and cause a<br />

short circuit.<br />

Clean the mach<strong>in</strong>e every day to<br />

prevent a build-up of bacteria.<br />

The brew unit and the water conta<strong>in</strong>er<br />

must be washed by hand. The drip tray,<br />

grilles and waste unit are all dishwasher<br />

proof.<br />

The steam and hot water spouts<br />

become very hot dur<strong>in</strong>g use.<br />

Always grip the steam spout by the<br />

<strong>in</strong>sulated screw connector at the top.<br />

The mach<strong>in</strong>e should be descaled<br />

regularly, depend<strong>in</strong>g on the<br />

hardness of the water, with the<br />

descal<strong>in</strong>g tablets supplied. The harder<br />

the water, the more often the mach<strong>in</strong>e<br />

must be descaled. The manufacturer<br />

cannot be held liable for damage<br />

aris<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>in</strong>sufficient descal<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Only use the descal<strong>in</strong>g tablets<br />

supplied by <strong>Miele</strong> and follow the<br />

<strong><strong>in</strong>structions</strong> on the packet carefully. Use<br />

the exact proportions recommended to<br />

avoid damage to the mach<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

Depend<strong>in</strong>g on the fat content of the<br />

<strong>coffee</strong> used, the brew unit could<br />

become blocked. Clean it every 2 to 4<br />

months with a clean<strong>in</strong>g tablet.<br />

To ensure the brew unit functions<br />

correctly, lubricate the jo<strong>in</strong>ts of the<br />

brew unit us<strong>in</strong>g the silicone lubricant<br />

supplied every time you clean the<br />

<strong>coffee</strong> mach<strong>in</strong>e with a clean<strong>in</strong>g tablet.<br />

Used <strong>coffee</strong> grounds should be put<br />

with the organic rubbish or on the<br />

compost heap, but not emptied down<br />

the s<strong>in</strong>k, as they could block it.<br />

Never hang anyth<strong>in</strong>g on the front<br />

when it is open as this could<br />

damage the mach<strong>in</strong>e.<br />
