located, and provided also that no militia company
should be reduced to a less number than
sixty-four rank and file; by which provision they
have not been able to get said enginemen appointed
in the town of Needham, there not being
to the number of ten suitable persons living
within that distance of the place where said
engine is located, and the militia companies in
said town not consisting of more than sixty-four
men rank and file; wherefore they pray that
your Honors would pass an addition to said act
authorizing the town of Newton to appoint a
number not exceeding fifteen, the town of Needham
not exceeding eight enginemen notwithstanding
they may reside more than half a mile
from said engine and notwithstanding thereby
the militia companies may be reduced to a less
number than sixty-four rank and tile, and as in
duty bound &c.
