The <strong>College</strong> is concerned about the health and well being of all its students. The distance from<br />
campus to hospitals and available transportation to the hospitals are important considerations in<br />
making decisions about the enrollment of students with special problems.<br />
Communicable Diseases<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s with communicable diseases or any type of illness which may endanger the health of<br />
the <strong>College</strong> community will be asked to withdraw from the dormitory until such time it’s deemed<br />
appropriate to return by medical staff.<br />
Services for <strong>Student</strong>s<br />
• Urgent care, first aid and treatment of minor illness.<br />
• Consultation services by specialist when indicated for diagnosing and treatment of<br />
medical, emotional and psychological problems.<br />
• Referrals to health care agencies for X-rays and laboratory testing.<br />
• Transportation for clinic visits, to physician offices, when referred by the Health Center<br />
staff.<br />
• Health Education information and counseling for specific medical problems.<br />
• Pharmacy services for securing prescription drugs.<br />
• Health Education.<br />
• <strong>Student</strong> Health Insurance Plan.<br />
• Assisting with processing of Insurance Claim Forms.<br />
AIDS Policy<br />
<strong>Tougaloo</strong> <strong>College</strong> will not discriminate against any person(s) with HIV infections in any form,<br />
including enrollment, employment, benefits, promotions, and other terms or conditions as such.<br />
They will not be denied access to <strong>College</strong> services or facilities unless medically necessitated.<br />
Judgment in individual cases may establish that some exclusion or restriction is necessary to<br />
protect the individual or the <strong>College</strong> community.<br />
<strong>Tougaloo</strong> <strong>College</strong> is committed to:<br />

• Take every reasonable precaution to provide a safe environment on campus.<br />
As a result of fear, anxiety, and anger that many people feel in reaction to AIDS, some students<br />
or employees who are either known to be or suspected of being infected with HIV may be<br />
subject to emotional and/or physical abuse. The <strong>College</strong> condemns such occurrences and shall<br />
respond to them quickly.<br />
