2. Persons on campus, after midnight, should be going or coming from campus facilities and<br />

not loitering on campus or sitting in automobiles.<br />

3. Proper identification must be presented to security officers upon request by students,<br />

staff, administrators and faculty.<br />

4. All faculty, staff, administrators are to be logged into buildings after midnight and on<br />

holidays.<br />

This handbook in plain and simple terms, outlines the steps that a student should take with<br />

respect to reporting crimes and complaints to Public Safety, so that the students will be aware of<br />

the same.<br />

Persons who wish to register a complaint, may do so by filing a written (formal) report in the<br />

Office of <strong>Student</strong> Affairs in Jamerson Hall.<br />

TOUGALOO COLLEGE ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICY<br />

The <strong>College</strong> is committed to maintaining a drug-free environment and will not tolerate the<br />

possession, manufacture, use or distribution of illegal drugs by its students, staff, faculty or<br />

administrators. The <strong>College</strong> provides counseling, referrals, educational programs and other<br />

assistance to students, faculty, and staff who seek help with alcohol and other substance related<br />

problems.<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s who violate the alcohol and drug policy may be subject to various sanctions, conditions<br />

and/or restrictions as deemed appropriate.<br />

The Mississippi State Statutes provide the following as furnishing of alcoholic beverages to<br />

minors, etc.:<br />

It is a violation for any permittee, or any other person, to sell, furnish, dispose of, or give any<br />

alcoholic beverage to any person under the age of 21 or they shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.<br />

Additionally, any person under the age of 21 who purchases, receives, or has in his or her<br />

possession in any public place, any alcoholic beverage, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and<br />

shall be charged a fine of not more than $200.<br />

It is also unlawful under Mississippi Statutes<br />

1. To sell, give or furnish any beer or wine to any person visibly or noticeably intoxicated,<br />

to any insane person, to any habitual drunkard, or to any person under the age of twenty<br />

one (21) years;<br />

2. For any person under the age of twenty one (21) years to purchase or posses any light<br />

wine or beer. Any such violators will be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction,<br />

shall be punished by a fine of not less than twenty five dollars ($25), not more than five<br />

hundred dollars ($500) and/or a sentence to not more than thirty (30) days of community<br />

service;<br />
