Towing and Booting<br />
A vehicle may be towed immediately at the owner’s expense and/or booted for the following<br />
violations:<br />
• Unregistered vehicle<br />
• Parking in unauthorized or undesignated parking lots/spaces.<br />
• Creating a traffic hazard.<br />
• Parking in a yellow-curbed or painted area.<br />
• Parking in a handicap space.<br />
• Parking in a safety zone.<br />
• Abandoned Vehicle.<br />
• Driving on sidewalks, the grass, and other landscaped areas.<br />
• A vehicle that remains illegally parked can be ticketed every four (4) hours. A vehicle<br />
ticketed two (2) or more times in the same space over seventy two (72) hours and has not<br />
moved will be ticketed and booted and may also be towed.<br />
• A vehicle parked in a manner that would cause a hazard, i.e. blocking fire lanes,<br />
handicapped access, etc. will be ticketed and towed.<br />
• A vehicle illegally parked in a reserved space will be ticketed, booted, or towed.<br />
• Vehicles with three or more unanswered tickets and whose owner or driver is<br />
unidentified will be booted or towed.<br />
• A vehicle displaying a fraudulent parking decal will be ticketed, booted, or towed.<br />
• Other violations may apply.<br />
<strong>Tougaloo</strong> <strong>College</strong> reserves the right to revoke a student or faculty/staff permit for excessive<br />
violations and unpaid violation notices. The vehicle will be towed from campus at the expense of<br />
the owner. The <strong>College</strong> assumes no responsibility for vehicles damaged as a result of towing.<br />
Abandoned Vehicles<br />
Vehicles that have been left unattended for a period of thirty (30) days and show no signs of<br />
being used will be considered abandoned. The owner will be notified to remove such vehicle<br />
from the <strong>College</strong>. Failure of the owner to remove said vehicle within ten (10) days after the<br />
notice is sent or to make alternate arrangements with Public Safety will result in the towing of<br />
said vehicle at the owner’s expense.<br />
Traffic Violations and Penalties<br />
Violators will be assessed a parking fine. All fines are to be paid at the Cashier’s window in the<br />
Blackmon Administration Building. They include, but are not necessarily limited to the<br />
following:<br />
• False registration - $100.00<br />
• Altered parking permit - $100.00<br />
• Operating a vehicle on campus without a decal - $50.00<br />
• Greater than safe speed - $50.00-$100.00<br />
