OFFICE OF STUDENT AFFAIRS<br />
The mission of the Office of <strong>Student</strong> Affairs is to offer our students formal and informal<br />
opportunities for academic and social growth, both inside and outside the classroom. <strong>Student</strong><br />
Affairs provide progressive, high-quality student-centered programs and services, while fostering<br />
an inclusive campus community in support of <strong>Tougaloo</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />
We aggressively work to develop a campus community that focuses on maintaining and<br />
respecting the <strong>College</strong>’s traditions. The Office of <strong>Student</strong> Affairs intends that our students<br />
become self-directed learners and self-reliant persons capable of dealing effectively with people,<br />
challenges, and issues.<br />
Career Services is responsible for counseling students concerning the selection of career<br />
objectives, employment opportunities, graduate/professional school opportunities and other<br />
career related activities.<br />
Counseling Services assists students in making the best adjustment to college. He/she helps the<br />
individual identify his/she issues or problems, aids in setting goals to overcome problems as the<br />
goals are achieved.<br />
Judicial Affairs is that component that addresses institutional code of conduct violations.<br />
Public Safety is responsible for the safety of the collegiate environment on the campus.<br />
Religious Life is responsible for religious activities and personal and religious counseling.<br />
He/she is also responsible for Sunday worship services and is a faculty member of the<br />
Humanities Division.<br />
Residential Life is responsible for the administration and supervision of student housing.<br />
<strong>Student</strong> Activities works with student organizations to coordinate activities for the <strong>College</strong><br />
community. The Coordinators oversee leadership development serving as advisor to the <strong>Student</strong><br />
Government Association and Greek Life and sponsors a host of Recreational Activities.<br />
CAREER SERVICES<br />
Our mission is to provide opportunities for students concerning the selection of career objectives,<br />
employment opportunities, graduate or professional opportunities and other related activities. In<br />
order to get the maximum results, we believe that early planning is essential for successful career<br />
achievement. Freshmen and transfer students are advised to visit the Office of Career Services<br />
on a frequent basis so that they may take advantage of services early in their career planning<br />
endeavors. Currently enrolled students, alumni and potential employers may use these services.<br />
Staff assists students in developing job-seeking skills and serves as a liaison for potential<br />
employers, students, and alumni. Staff does not guarantee employment.<br />
