and all parties present. In taking testimony, witnesses should be clearly identified and the<br />
chairman should call the name of each member of the Judiciary Council before they<br />
question the witness. For the sake of clarity, persons speaking should talk loud enough to<br />
be recorded on tape and enunciate clearly.<br />
2. Have plaintiff(s) make a concise and plain statement describing the alleged injury/harm<br />
or rule infraction. The hearing board should understand the nature of the charges and the<br />
resulting issues.<br />
In order to avoid situations that jeopardize career and/or the academic success of<br />
students, no initial hearing will be held after Reading Day (or during exam week). Any<br />
and all infraction that occur during this time frame (exam week) will be handled by a<br />
special administrative proceeding.<br />
Administrative Interview<br />
When a student violates a code of conduct policy, in most instances the student will be<br />
interviewed by the Coordinator of Judicial Affairs or designee. The process for an<br />
administrative interview is as follows:<br />
1. <strong>Student</strong> will be interviewed by the Coordinator of Judicial Affairs or designee to further<br />
assess the violation that occurred.<br />
2. The student will be informed, written and verbally, of the sanction(s) for the violation<br />
committed.<br />
3. The student can accept the sanctions from the administrative interview by signing the<br />
documents of agreement, or the student and opt to have a judicial hearing. If the student<br />
decides on a judicial hearing, the student will have to follow the judicial process. (See<br />
Judicial Policies and Procedures)<br />
Disciplinary Violation Guidelines<br />
1. Accessory<br />
Assisting, helping, facilitating, or promoting others in violating <strong>College</strong> policies and<br />
guidelines is prohibited. This prohibition includes all assistance rendered by words<br />
(written, verbal, electronic), acts, encouragement, support, counseling, or inciting. Those<br />
found in violation of being an accessory bear the same degree of responsibility as the<br />
person who committed the violation and may receive the same penalty as the primary<br />
perpetrator.<br />
2. Alcohol Possession or Intoxication<br />
Possession, consumption, appearing in public on <strong>College</strong> premises while intoxicated, or<br />
being under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs is strictly prohibited. This includes<br />
