9. Married <strong>Student</strong>s<br />
Living accommodations are not provided for married couples. However, a married<br />
student may have the privilege of living in the residence halls, providing he or she is<br />
willing to adjust to regulations of the residence halls and the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s who marry during their period of matriculation, must register their marital status<br />
in the Office of <strong>Student</strong> Affairs.<br />
10. No Smoking Policy<br />
<strong>Tougaloo</strong> <strong>College</strong> is committed to the promotion of good health for its entire college<br />
community. To establish and maintain the most effective, safe environment possible,<br />
including the elimination of potential fire hazards resulting from smoking materials; the<br />
<strong>College</strong> is smoke-free. Smoking by students, staff, faculty, visitors, and repairperson is<br />
not permitted on campus including offices, classrooms, residential halls, labs, cafeteria,<br />
etc. This also includes all <strong>College</strong> rental and privately owned vehicles used for<br />
transportation on and off campus.<br />
The following Disciplinary Action will be imposed for any violators:<br />
1 st time – Written Warning<br />
2 nd time - $50.00 fine<br />
3 rd time - $75.00 fine<br />
4 th time – $100.00 fine<br />
5 th time – $150.00 fine<br />
Any violations of this policy will be handled through the standard disciplinary<br />
procedures which includes the imposition of a fine not to exceed one hundred fifty<br />
dollars ($150). Fines can be placed on students’ accounts and faculty and staff fines<br />
may be placed on payroll deduction at the earliest check issuance to be paid.<br />
The <strong>College</strong> will not permit:<br />
• Smoking in any campus building or during any campus event or activity.<br />
• The sale of tobacco products on campus or college sponsored events<br />
• The advertising and distribution of tobacco products on campus or at campus<br />
events or activities.<br />
• The use of the school logo on any smoking paraphernalia such as cigarette<br />
lighters, ash trays, etc.<br />
The <strong>College</strong> will:<br />
• Provide assistance to those who need help with smoking cessation via a referral to<br />
American Lung Association smoking cessation classes.<br />
• Create and nourish an atmosphere in which smoking is seen as a socially<br />
unacceptable and unhealthy habit.<br />
