any disorderly conduct regardless of whether such conduct results in injury to person or<br />

property as a result of intoxication. The <strong>College</strong> will notify parent(s)/guardian(s) if the<br />

student is under the age of 21.<br />

3. Assault<br />

The attack with violence by physical means or an attack by use of verbal hostile words;<br />

an offer to do bodily harm or violence to another person. Violation of this policy will lead<br />

to suspension from the <strong>College</strong> and may subject the individual to civil authority.<br />

4. Bomb Threats<br />

Making bomb threats in any fashion is a violation of federal, state and city statutes.<br />

Individuals found guilty of making a bomb threat will be subject to disciplinary action.<br />

5. Cheating and Plagiarism<br />

<strong>Tougaloo</strong> <strong>College</strong> is devoted to the discovery and communication of knowledge. We<br />

maintain that intellectual integrity is of utmost importance and that its absence is taken<br />

very seriously.<br />

Examinations and assignments are employed to encourage learning. Persons who are<br />

guilty of cheating or plagiarism, as defined below, will be subject to disciplinary action.<br />

a. Cheating<br />

Dishonesty of any kind with respect to examinations, course assignments,<br />

alterations of records, or illegal possession of examinations shall be considered<br />

cheating.<br />

It is the responsibility of the student not only to abstain from cheating but, in<br />

addiction, to avoid the appearance of cheating and to guard against making it<br />

possible for others to cheat. Any student who helps another student to cheat is as<br />

guilty of cheating as the student he assists. The student also should do everything<br />

possible to induce respect for the examining process and for honesty in the<br />

performance of assigned tasks in or out of class.<br />

b. Plagiarism<br />

Honesty requires that any ideas or materials taken from another for either written or oral<br />

use must be fully acknowledged. Offering the work of someone else as one’s own is<br />

plagiarism. The language or ideas thus taken from another may range from isolated<br />

formulas, sentences, or paragraphs, to entire articles copied from books, periodicals,<br />

speeches, or the writings of other students. The offering of materials assembled or<br />

collected by others in the form of projects or collections without acknowledgement is<br />

also considered plagiarism. Any student who fails to give credit for ideas or materials that<br />
