Affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> context <strong>of</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e market<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Abstract. This paper deals with affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>in</strong> which <strong>the</strong> seller or service provider is a<br />

f<strong>in</strong>ancially reward<strong>in</strong>g agent so-called affiliate for each visitor, which through its website to attract a<br />

dealer <strong>the</strong>re, who made some activity, ei<strong>the</strong>r directly purchase products, register to subscribe to a<br />

<strong>new</strong>sletter, or just brows<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> site. In this paper, <strong>the</strong> author tries to def<strong>in</strong>e affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g, <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>dividual entities <strong>of</strong> affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g such as merchant, affiliate, network owner, affiliate network,<br />

briefly describe <strong>the</strong> history <strong>of</strong> affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> illustrate its use for example a social network<br />

P<strong>in</strong>terest.<br />

1. Introduction<br />

In today's market<strong>in</strong>g we are record<strong>in</strong>g condensed advertis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>formation flow. Advertisement<br />

recipient perceives from all sides. Market<strong>in</strong>g communication follows <strong>the</strong> trend <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> closest contact<br />

with <strong>the</strong> recipients. This is doubly true <strong>in</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e market<strong>in</strong>g. With social networks people provide <strong>the</strong><br />

most personal <strong>in</strong>formation that today's technology can process <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir favor. It is still, however,<br />

communication between <strong>the</strong> company <strong>and</strong> customers. Affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g is basically transmitt<strong>in</strong>g<br />

personal sell<strong>in</strong>g to onl<strong>in</strong>e environment. Globally it can be considered a type <strong>of</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g that was<br />

already <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> n<strong>in</strong>eties, but <strong>in</strong> its essence it br<strong>in</strong>gs someth<strong>in</strong>g that nowadays has become a trend aga<strong>in</strong>.<br />

To <strong>the</strong> relation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> company - customer it br<strong>in</strong>gs ano<strong>the</strong>r man who has noth<strong>in</strong>g to do with <strong>the</strong><br />

company, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>refore <strong>the</strong> recipient consideres him a better reference to classic advertis<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

2. History <strong>and</strong> def<strong>in</strong>ition <strong>of</strong> affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g comb<strong>in</strong>es <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong> personal sales <strong>and</strong> technology solutions <strong>of</strong>fered by<br />

onl<strong>in</strong>e market<strong>in</strong>g. To companies with lower budget it provides an opportunity to <strong>in</strong>crease pr<strong>of</strong>its <strong>and</strong><br />

raise awareness <strong>of</strong> its br<strong>and</strong>.<br />

Affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g can be described as one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> onl<strong>in</strong>e distribution tools, thus one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> four<br />

lements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g mix. Many authors label it as commision affiliate market<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> sales, which<br />
