SECTIONSIX<strong>Mitigation</strong> Strategy6.5.3 Contribution to the Overall State <strong>Mitigation</strong> StrategyAs noted in Section 6.4 (<strong>Mitigation</strong> Goals), the goals identified for the 2011 <strong>Guam</strong> HMP serve asthe foundation of the Government of <strong>Guam</strong>’s overall mitigation strategy. The 21 high-prioritymitigation measures identified in Table 6-3 contribute to the Government of <strong>Guam</strong>’s overallmitigation strategy by meeting the mitigation goals as follows:• 1 mitigation action (#1) selected will help improve the quality and comprehensiveness ofinformation on assets and hazards.• 12 mitigation actions (#6, #9, #10, #11, #25, #27, #28, #29, #33, #34, #47, and #50) selectedwill help reduce risks of disaster damage to existing buildings and infrastructure, especiallyEFMUTS.• 4 mitigation actions (#5, #21, #31, and #32) selected will help promote disaster-resistantdevelopment and disaster recovery.• 1 mitigation action (#48) selected will help develop institutional support of hazard mitigationwithin Government of <strong>Guam</strong> agencies and the public.• 3 mitigation actions (#35, #36, and #49) selected will help protect human health and safety.6-26
