CHAPTER 4Unlike the non-containerised exports, Sydney’s non-containerised imports will continueto rise over the next twenty years, largely due to the expected positive outlook for theAustralian economy. They are forecast to increase by 1.6 per cent a year during theperiod, from 13.7 million tonnes in 2004-05 to 18.8 million tonnes in 2024-25.International non-containerised trade accounts for 63.3 per cent <strong>of</strong> the non-containerisedexports <strong>and</strong> 66.7 per cent <strong>of</strong> the non-containerised imports. It declined by 7.2 per cent ayear in the last five years, from 14.0 million tonnes in 1999-2000 to 9.6 million tonnesin 2004-05 (Table 4.10).
