Various diplomatic agreements betweenthe French, British, Germans, and Portuguese inJune and December 1886 disagreed on the possession ofthis area. <strong>The</strong> Germans acknowledged that the area hadbeen relinquished to “Portuguese influence” but claimedcontinued “special interest” in the area. <strong>The</strong> Portugueseoccupied the area in 1887.
