5.19 OP,RAND (RANDOM ME)This option generates a set of r<strong>and</strong>om matrix elements which replaces the set defined previously for thecurrent job. Each matrix element in the r<strong>and</strong>om set is created assuming a uniform distribution of r<strong>and</strong>omnumbers lying between the limits specified for each matrix element in the input to ME. This option is usedto eliminate bias in the <strong>analysis</strong> <strong>and</strong> to test the uniqueness of the least-squares fit toagiven<strong>data</strong>setbyretrying the minimization starting from a number of sets of r<strong>and</strong>om matrix elements. If OP,RAND is usedit should immediately precede OP,YIEL.The input requires only one number:SEED: A floating-point seed number for the internal r<strong>and</strong>om number generator. SEED should be largerthan unity <strong>and</strong> less than 32000. Note that FORTRAN r<strong>and</strong>om number generators are reproducible,giving the same sequence of r<strong>and</strong>om numbers when called. Therefore SEED should be different forrepeated runs, otherwise the results will be identical.98
