PREREQUISITES:The Teacher Internship is the culminating experience <strong>for</strong> students in Teacher Preparationprograms in most circumstances. The exceptions are discussed in the previousparagraph; all other program courses must be completed prior to this experience.Please consult with the appropriate Regional Chair <strong>for</strong> Clinical Studies or a ProgramAdvisor, if you have questions.The State of Delaware requires that all student <strong>teachers</strong> submit a Criminal BackgroundCheck Report and a Child Protection Clearance that are reviewed <strong>for</strong> suitability prior tothe processing of the Student Teaching Application.For students in the Bachelors Programs (Birth – Grade 2, K-6, and 6-8), a GPA of 2.5 isrequired. For students in the MEE K-6, MAT 7-12 and MSE 1-8 Graduate Programs, aGPA of 3.0 is required. In addition, Passing Scores on Praxis I and II in the appropriatearea*, and an approved application from the Office of Clinical Studies are required <strong>for</strong> theinternship.*This is currently not a requirement <strong>for</strong> students in the AS Birth – Kindergarten Program.II. PROGRAM COMPETENCIES:Competencies 1-12 are based on the Delaware Professional Teaching Standards (1998).Competencies 13-14 were developed by the College of Education faculty.
