Teacher Interns are asked to notify the placement school’s secretary orabsence-reporting service, the Cooperating Teacher, and the clinical advisor inadvance in the event that attendance is not possible. Teacher Interns are expected toprovide lesson plans and materials <strong>for</strong> any activities that would have been conductedunder their direction on the day of absence.Regular and prompt seminar attendance is an essential part of the educationalexperience. <strong>Wilmington</strong> <strong>University</strong> expects students to exercise good judgmentregarding attendance. Students accept full responsibility <strong>for</strong> ensuring that work doesnot suffer from absences. All students are expected to attend every scheduledseminar on time. Exceptions may be made <strong>for</strong> <strong>Wilmington</strong> <strong>University</strong> sponsored orwork related activities, illness, or valid emergenciesIn the College of Education, faculty must approve all requests <strong>for</strong> exceptions to the<strong>University</strong> policy. Vacations are not considered to be legitimate reasons <strong>for</strong> missingclasses. Faculty must be contacted prior to class in all cases except <strong>for</strong> validemergencies. Failure to attend class may result in lowering the final grade orassigning an FA (failure due to absence). Early departures and late arrivals will becumulative and will result in missing a whole class period. It is the student’sresponsibility to obtain and complete assignments on the due dates.VI.TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:Teacher Interns are encouraged to contact their assigned placement school as soon aspossible to find out when to report <strong>for</strong> the Teacher Internship experience. TeacherInterns are expected to start school the same time as their assigned school begins <strong>for</strong>the placement semester, and not according to the <strong>Wilmington</strong> <strong>University</strong> schedule,following the teacher calendar of their school of placement. Suggested schedules areprovided on the next two pages.A <strong>Wilmington</strong> <strong>University</strong> Orientation <strong>for</strong> Teacher Interns is held 2-3 weeks prior tothe start of the clinical semester. Students are notified via their WilmU emailaccounts the exact date and time of the Orientation.
