Beyond these, high price ofseeds, lack of knowledge were also identified as constraints to maize cultivation.Constrains to maize production were several but their dominance may vary from location to location.Table 4.3.22 shows that “impossible to produce seed from hybrid” has got the highest scores andranked first as constraints to maize production in Kishoregonj. Next to this “high price of hybrid maizeseed” was 2 nd in rank followed by “low market price of maize grain”. “Control of prices by dealers” and“difficulties in threshing by existing method” were other major constraints as mentioned by theparticipants.
