Therefore, theprofitability of rice seed production of Contract Growers is generally higher compared to non-contractgrowers.4.1.36 Production function of Boro rice seed produced by BADC contract growers in RajshahiThe Cobb-Douglas Production Function models were used to determine the input use efficiency of theseed growing farmers. The regression coefficients were estimated under the present study and it isobserved that the application of TSP, MP and gypsum was significantly affecting the production ofBoro rice (Table 4.1.36). On the other hand, the application of herbicide had a significantly negativeimpact on production. It can be noted that compost use had no significant effect on the yield of Bororice seed. This is possibly because; this variable under Bangladesh context appears in qualitative termsince farmers use compost at suboptimal dosages, and because of the lower proportion of the inherentplant nutrient content of compost compared to fertilizers, it can not make any substantial impact onproduction of seed yield of Boro rice.43
