Osim izgradnje prijenosne mreæe,potrebno je nadograditi i sustav SCADA te sustavezaπtite.3 CONCLUSIONSAs an isolated system, the Rhodes Island system isvulnerable to disturbances. The MV overhead linedistribution system in the vicinity of the coast isalso vulnerable to the effects of sea salts that adverselyaffect the reliability of insulation. The sensitivity of wind generation to voltage swingsas well as the overall system protection played acritical role in the development of the perturbationwhich led to the blackout. In view of the fact that the transmission system onRhodes Island is currently being considered for anupgrade from the present 66 kV to 150 kV, scheduledfor the next two-to-three years, it is importantthat the SCADA system is upgraded as well. Theprotection scheme should also be upgraded.Papazoglou, Th. M., Papazoglou, M. T., Thalassinakis, E. J., Tsichlakis, Ch., Hatziargyriou, N.
