Plantsof late sowing had faster development, phenologicalphases were shorter, and ripening accelerated. Sproutsof the main early sowing on 20 th and 25 th May emergedin 15-17 days, whereas late, 30 th May and 04 th June,sowing sprouts emerged in 9-12 days as sown inmoist and optimum warm soil. The sprouts of earlysowing of 25 th May and late sowing of 30 rt May 2010emerged on the same day. The passing of their furtherdevelopment phases was simultaneous (Fig. 1).During plant development (Fig. 1) there were twocertain critical periods in relation with precipitation.The first critical period of insufficient water supplywas at the beginning of germination, the secondcritical period lasted from the beginning of floweringup to the beginning of seed-kernel filling.The height of plants mostly depended on sowingrate. Plants sown using high rates were higherdepending on sowing dates by 17 cm on average ifcompared with plants sown in low rates in all variants.According to sowing date, the plants of the main latesowing date (4 th June) turned out to be higher, i.e.118 cm in column sowing method and 119 cm in drillsowing, while late spring date (9 th June) plants were91 cm in height by column sowing and 102 cm inheight by drill sowing (Fig. 2).Figure 1.
