The Fayette County <strong>Bar</strong> Association planned <strong>the</strong> following programming in support <strong>of</strong>Law Day 2013 to take place throughout May: Bicycles for Kids, Domestic Workshop,Fayette Senior Services, and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Georgia</strong> Legal Food Frenzy.The Gate City <strong>Bar</strong> Association's Community Law Clinic w<strong>as</strong> held on Saturday, May18, from 12:00 - 4:00 p.m at Greenbriar Mall.The <strong>Georgia</strong> Association <strong>of</strong> Black Women Attorneys (GABWA)/Gate City Law Dayat C<strong>as</strong>cade United Methodist Church hosted by GABWA and <strong>the</strong> Gate City <strong>Bar</strong>Association w<strong>as</strong> held on Sunday, May 19 at 9:00 a.m. The Gate City <strong>Bar</strong> Association'sP<strong>as</strong>t President, Clarence R. Johnson, Jr., Esq. w<strong>as</strong> <strong>the</strong> speaker.The <strong>Georgia</strong> Association <strong>of</strong> Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) sponsored and/orpartnered with o<strong>the</strong>r organizations to sponsor multiple Law Day events in April and Mayincluding: (1) Partnering with <strong>the</strong> Atlanta <strong>Bar</strong> for <strong>the</strong> April 22 nd event at <strong>the</strong> NationalCenter for Civil and Human Rights; (2) Law Day Fair on May 3 rd ; (3) Street Law Clinicson May 9, and May 14 in partnership with Fulton Leadership Academy and The StudyHall. GABWA members taught a "Street Law" lesson on <strong>the</strong> criminal justice system; (4)On May 3 rd , GABWA partnered with <strong>the</strong> Fulton County Juvenile Court and o<strong>the</strong>r bar<strong>as</strong>sociations and hosted a Law Day Fair at <strong>the</strong> Romae T. Powell Justice Center; and (5)on May 3 rd , <strong>the</strong> Law Day Fair w<strong>as</strong> followed by a Law Day Ceremony at <strong>the</strong> Romae T.Powell Justice Center.The Gwinnett County <strong>Bar</strong> Association held many incredible events in support <strong>of</strong> LawDay 2013, which included <strong>the</strong> following: (1) Law Day Banquet on April 19 th ; (2) GreatDay <strong>of</strong> Service on April 27 th , w<strong>here</strong> attendees partnered with Habitat for Humanity toconstruct a house and gave a $1,500 donation to <strong>the</strong> organization; (3) extensiveeducation program with Gwinnett Public Schools throughout April, which included aposter and essay contest for students, numerous Career Day activities, and a $1,000college scholarship; (4) Golf Tournament on May 3th; and (5) Judicial Reception on May9 th . The Houston County <strong>Bar</strong> Association celebrated Law Day on May 1 st with apresentation <strong>of</strong> scholarship awards to six graduating high school seniors from HoustonCounty. Each scholarship recipient w<strong>as</strong> awarded a $500 scholarship. The scholarshipswere awarded b<strong>as</strong>ed on <strong>the</strong> student’s academic achievement, letters <strong>of</strong>recommendation, and a written essay on this year’s Law Day <strong>the</strong>me, “Realizing <strong>the</strong>Dream: Equality for All.” They also participated in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Georgia</strong> Legal Food Frenzy, whichraised $2,215 and donated approximately 300 pounds <strong>of</strong> food to <strong>the</strong> Middle <strong>Georgia</strong>Community Food Bank.133
