improve services in her Court, but to streamline its processes with <strong>the</strong> goal <strong>of</strong> bringing<strong>the</strong> Court into <strong>the</strong> 21 st Century and one w<strong>here</strong> all members are eager and proud topractice.This year <strong>the</strong> Section proudly launched its Creditors Rights Forum Website. Thepurpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> site is to give immediate opportunities for networking issues to all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>membership – particularly helpful for solo practitioners. Ano<strong>the</strong>r purpose is to keep <strong>the</strong>membership apprised <strong>of</strong> new appellate rulings; proposed laws and regulations whichmight effect <strong>the</strong> Section’s focus and generally a sense <strong>of</strong> comradeship amongmembers.Section members continued to participate in its Signature Project, <strong>the</strong> “Dollarsfor Judgments” program that works in partnership with <strong>the</strong> Atlanta Volunteer LawyersFoundation. (AVLF) 1Section members volunteer to collect judgments for low-incomeindividuals who have obtained a judgment pro se or with <strong>the</strong> help <strong>of</strong> a AVLF volunteer.The c<strong>as</strong>es are <strong>as</strong>signed periodically <strong>as</strong> needed. To keep <strong>the</strong> program vital, AVLF’sMessrs. Ellin and Luc<strong>as</strong> are invited to <strong>the</strong> Section’s functions in order to report and torecruit. The Section is extremely proud <strong>of</strong> its participation in this Program.Once again, <strong>the</strong> Section hosted <strong>the</strong> Opening Night Festivities at <strong>the</strong> 2013Annual Meeting.Finally, political activism by members h<strong>as</strong> been encouraged though notsponsored by <strong>the</strong> Section. Individual members have consistently visited <strong>the</strong> Capitol for<strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> informal comments and individual lobbying on proposed legislation that1 The Section h<strong>as</strong> had an ongoing relationship with <strong>the</strong> family <strong>of</strong> Jay Loeb (“Family”) whoorganized <strong>the</strong> Section’s first CLE seminar. For many years, <strong>the</strong> Family made yearly contributionsto <strong>the</strong> Section to be used to provide excellent speakers to its CLE programs. The Family h<strong>as</strong>transitioned its yearly contribution to <strong>the</strong> Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Program to be used for <strong>the</strong>Section’s signature project, <strong>the</strong> “Dollars for Judgments” program.207
