f. Thomas O. Marshall Professionalism Award: For the first time, ourExecutive Committee voted unanimously to nominate an individual for the Thomas O. MarshallProfessionalism Award. Our nomination was submitted for our nominee.g. Child Support Project, Administrative Office of the Courts: Our Sectionassisted Patricia Buonodono in notifying and emailing all Section members with the new versionof the child support worksheet, Version 8.7. In addition, the new version of the Child SupportWorksheet was announced at the annual meeting of our Section.h. State Bar Counsel: Our Section provided input to Paula Frederick, upon herrequest, regarding a pending rule change that a Defendant must be served prior to any solicitationbeing sent to that Defendant in a divorce.i. Judges Seminar: Members of our Section attended the cocktail reception heldin coordination with the Superior Court Judges’ seminar in January. Our Section was successfulin getting a speaking spot on the agenda for the July Judges’ seminar to address topics of familylaw.j. Access Justice Committee: Our Section unanimously voted to donate $500towards the survey to be done by the Access to Justice Committee of the State Bar of Georgia.The survey is expected to quantify the impact of the legal aid programs in Georgia which canthen be used to get increased and sustained funding for legal services in our State.k. Annual Meeting: Our annual meeting took place on January 10 th in Atlanta. Thecommittees had their meeting prior to a one hour CLE. Following the CLE was a reception forthe Section attendees. Afterwards, the Executive Committee hosted a dinner which included thefive judges who had spoken on the CLE panel as well as several legislators.221
l. Gary Christy Memorial Trial Skills Clinic: Our Section is awarding twoscholarships to cover the registration fees to attend and participate in this Clinic which will takeplace at the end of June. Our Section is reviewing the scholarship applications to make thedecision on the two recipients.m. Mock Trial: Our Section contributed $500 towards the cost of the State HighSchool Mock Trial champion team’s trip to the National Competition in May. This contributionwas particularly special to our Section as the winners are a group of home schooled students whomust raise 100% of their funds to travel to Indianapolis to compete.n. Section Leaders Training: Our Section Chair attended the Section LeadersTraining on April 8 th at the State Bar. It was a great forum to meet and mingle with the otherSection leaders and to see what work the other Sections were doing.
