practice, communities, and their law firms. With properencouragement and future training from the Section they can deliverlegal assistance to veterans and military members for the next 40years. The Section hopes to expand the Veterans Law Clinic model toother Georgia law schools around the state.- The Section partnering with the MLAP and the Atlanta Regional Officeof the Veterans Administration has continued to expand the VeteransLegal Assistance Clinic currently at the VA Medical Center in Decaturto other major concentrations of veterans. The Section found awilling partner in the Augusta Bar Association, who under theleadership of Ed Coleman will be starting a clinic at the VA MedicalCenter in Augusta. A larger concentration of Wounded Warriors cyclethrough Augusta, and it is an excellent opportunity for helping veteransand service members with the most significant war related injuries. Intime and with the help of law students and local volunteer attorneys,the Section hopes to open a clinic at the VA Medical Center in Dublinand at some of the larger VA Clinics in the major military communitiesaround the state.- Our partnership with the Veterans Administration and especially ourliaison with the Atlanta Regional General Counsel’s Office has providedgreat dividends for the Section and our common goal of legal outreachto Veterans in the State. An example of our close cooperation occurredin December 2012 when the Section and the Decatur VA MedicalCenter entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for the supportof the Veterans Legal Clinic at the hospital. It was a historic occasionfor both the VA and the Section on improving the delivery and outreachto Veterans in need of personal legal assistance.- The Executive Committee also continues to pursue expansion of theCLE opportunities for military law training especially in MilitaryFamily Law; Consumer Protection for Military Families especially inthe area of predatory lending practices; Service members Civil ReliefAct (SCRA); Uniform Services Employment and Reemployment RightsAct (USERRA); Military Justice; Practice before the Military Boards ofCorrections of Military Records; and, the Legal Assistance Programsavailable through the Staff Judge Advocates’ Offices around the state.- Under the aegis of Lynn Adam, the Section provided significant draftlegislation to provide for the uniform development andimplementation of a Veterans Court program for participating Circuitswithin the State. This effort will leverage off existing programs alreadyin place and is another way to provide for diversion through otherwiseoverburdened courts. Coordination with the VA’s Veterans Justice303
