CREDITORS RIGHTS SECTIONANNUAL REPORT – 2012-2013The Creditor’s Rights Section concludes this <strong>Bar</strong> year with our most membersever – numbering 497. The Section continues to provide its members with outstandingcontinuing education credits; h<strong>as</strong> launched a Website for member interaction;h<strong>as</strong>provided opportunities to serve through its “Dollars for Judgments” program; and h<strong>as</strong>encouraged members’ awareness <strong>of</strong> legislative issues effecting creditors in GA.The Section’s Continuing Education Seminar on February 14, 2012, <strong>the</strong> popularannual “Advanced Debt Collection” drew a large number <strong>of</strong> participants, with over 120in attendance, who gave strong evaluations <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> program.This year’s Seminarhosted its usual excellent speakers.Notably enforcement attorneys from <strong>the</strong>Consumer Financial Protection Bureau discussed <strong>the</strong> mission, and core functions <strong>of</strong> thislittle understood agency. As <strong>the</strong> Bureau is anticipated to have an enormous impact onnot only <strong>the</strong> protection <strong>of</strong> consumers but some restrictions on business, it w<strong>as</strong> importantto educate Section members <strong>as</strong> to <strong>the</strong> broad impact <strong>of</strong> this law on all lawyers. Also <strong>of</strong>note <strong>as</strong> a speaker w<strong>as</strong> <strong>the</strong> Honorable Benjamin W. Studdard, III, Judge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>State</strong>Court <strong>of</strong> Henry County, who presented a pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism program par excellent. Thepresentation w<strong>as</strong> presented <strong>as</strong> a popular old movie, illustrating scene by sceneexamples <strong>of</strong> ethical and pr<strong>of</strong>essional behavior from cowboys, to gunfighters, to lawyers.The Annual Fall luncheon, CLE, and membership meeting, w<strong>as</strong> held atMaggiano’s on October 25, 2012 with “standing room” only for latecomers.Cicely<strong>Bar</strong>ber, Administrator <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fulton County <strong>State</strong> Court presented her Vision to not only206
