STUDET GRIEVACE PROCEDURESIf a grievance is brought before the Student Grievance Board, the burden ofproof rests upon the individual bringing the grievance. The procedure forfiling a grievance shall be as follows:1. Before the Student Grievance board acts on any grievancebrought by a student, the grievance must have been presentedin writing via a grievance form located in the Office of AcademicAffairs (academic grievance) or in the Office of StudentAffairs and Enrollment Services (non-academic grievance).The grievance must also have been fully discussed with thehead of the department or unit involved without receiving satisfactionwithin a reasonable period.2. All meetings of the board will be held in closed sessions withonly members and parties involved in the grievance present.3. All parties involved in the grievance shall be present when evidenceis introduced and either party will be permitted to havean academic advisor or legal counsel of his or her choice.4. All parties in the grievance will be given not less than one weekto prepare for the hearing and will be notified in writing as to thetime and place of the hearing.5. A recording and written summary will be made of all proceedingsof the Board and will be submitted to the Chancellor forfinal disposition.6. All persons involved will receive copies of the hearing summary.115
