The staff stands ready to assist studentswith resume’ writing, tips for interviews, graduate and professional school,personal statement reviews. Listed below are some of the services:• Information on career decision making• Counseling and interest assessments• Information on part-time jobs and internships• Activities, programs, workshops andspecial trips• Graduate and or professional schooladmission process• Workshops: i.e., resume’ writing, dress forsuccess, interview skills, etc…• Annual Programs: Career Day, Graduateand Professional Day• Teacher Fair, and the Mardi Gras Invitational Job Fair• Activities: Fall and Spring student interviewsfor internships and career placements• Sponsored site visits to organizations, employersand graduate and professional schoolsVETERAS AFFAIRSThe Veterans Affairs Office is an important academic support componentwhich provides basic instructional services for all eligible veterans and theirdependents matriculating at SUNO. The <strong>University</strong> has the authority tocertify veterans to receive educational benefits to qualified veterans andtheir dependants under the provision of 38 .S.C.3675. The Veterans AffairsOffice provides information and assistance regarding educational and trainingprograms for veterans. Veterans and their dependents should obtain aCertificate of Eligibility from their local Veterans Administration Office ortheir Military Unit. The Certificate of Eligibility form should be presentedto the <strong>University</strong>’s Veterans Affairs Office.Veterans are required by the Veterans Administration Office to carry a minimumof twelve (12) hours for the entire semester to receive full subsistence(6 hours constitute full-time status for the summer sessions) and must conformto the same grading system at the <strong>University</strong> as non-veteran students.39
