Washington Memorial Library is temporarily located at 6801Press Drive, Building 27 on SUNO’s North Campus. It houses an abbreviatedcollection administered for curricular, reference, research and recreationalinterests of students, faculty, staff and the community. The general book collectionis limited and organized according to the Library of Congress ClassificationSystem. An open-stack arrangement makes the collection readily accessibleto library patrons. We welcome the opportunity to help you. Pleasestop by or call 286-5225 when you need assistance.A valid SUNO ID, LALINC, or State ID plus paid fee receipt is required tocheck-out library materials. A current SUNO identification card (ID) issuedby the <strong>University</strong> must be presented each time a book is checked out. Identificationcards are updated during registration each semester. Books may beborrowed from the general collection for a three-week period, unless the bookis in demand or has been placed on hold. Books may be renewed if there areno holds or recalls placed on the item. All books are to be returned to the CirculationDesk.Online CatalogThe iLink Catalog is a part of a statewide computer network linking Louisianapublic state-supported university libraries. This statewide network is calledthe Louisiana Library Network (LOUIS). From both the iLink terminals andthe Internet in the library, a researcher is able to search our library catalog, thecatalogs of at least 27 Louisiana state universities and colleges, some periodicalindexes, government documents and also the catalogs of some out-of-statelibraries. There is a large database of online full-text periodicals and over9,000 electronic books (E-Books) are online.General CollectionBorrowing Policy: Books are loaned from the open stacks for a three-week(21-day) period. All faculty, staff, currently-enrolled SUNO students, activealumni, and others with special borrower’s cards are eligible to withdraw(check-out) books from the collection. In general, only ten (10) books forundergraduate students and fifteen (15) for graduate students (from any onesubject area) may be withdrawn at a given time. However, with special permission,more than ten or fifteen books may be withdrawn at a given time.Renewal – Books are renewed after the initial withdrawal as long as there areno requests for them.32
